«Однажды на Диком Западе»
(изначально выпущенный в 1968 году в Италии под названием «C’era una volta il West», а затем в мае 1969 в США как «Once upon a time in the West») — классический спагетти-вестерн режиссёра Серджо Леоне. В списке 250 лучших фильмов по версии IMDb из вестернов уступает только предшествующему фильму Леоне, «Хороший, плохой, злой» (1966).
Сюжет
Городок Флэгстоун где-то на Диком Западе. Джилл, молодая женщина из Нового Орлеана, месяц назад вышедшая замуж за фермера-вдовца Макбейна, приезжает на его ферму и обнаруживает убитыми своего мужа и его троих детей. Причина в том, что Макбейн отказался продать свой участок, где находится единственный в округе источник воды, дельцу Мортону, задумавшему проложить по этой земле железную дорогу. Почти парализованный из-за болезни ног Мортон нанял Фрэнка — лучшего на Диком Западе стрелка, чтобы тот угрозами заставил Макбейна убраться с земли, однако Фрэнк вместо этого убивает фермера и его детей, нарочно оставив на месте преступления улики, которые бы указали на местного бандита Шайена. Тот, хоть и головорез, но придерживается определенного кодекса чести. Одновременно в город прибывает таинственный бродяга, чье имя и цели неизвестны, и который все время играет на губной гармонике. За это Шайен, который проникся к бродяге симпатией, дает ему прозвище «Гармошка». Гармошка имеет свой интерес к Фрэнку — он никому не позволяет убить наемника, но желает поквитаться с ним сам (тот когда-то убил его брата). Шайену же не нравится, что Фрэнк подставил его, и потому он встает на защиту красавицы с фермы. Трое сильных мужчин сойдутся в смертельном хороводе, выхода из которого может и не быть. Точно воссозданная атмосфера того времени дополнена великолепной музыкой Эннио Морриконе.
