«Престиж»
(англ. The Prestige, 2006) — поставленная Кристофером Ноланом экранизация одноимённой фантастической драмы Кристофера Приста, написанной в 1995 году. Режиссёр вновь (после фильма «Бэтмен: Начало») выступает здесь в тандеме с актёрами Кристианом Бэйлом и Майклом Кейном.
Кристофер Нолан написал сценарий в соавторстве со своим братом Джонатаном. Они основательно переделали сюжет книги; в частности, убрали всю современную линию, а также сделали Энджера и Бордена приятелями еще до их смертельного противостояния. В книге главные герои не были знакомы друг с другом, пока не началась их вражда. Фильм был выпущен 20 октября 2006 года и получил хорошие отзывы, а также две номинации на «Оскар» в категориях «за лучшую операторскую работу» и «за лучшего художника-постановщика».
Сюжет популярного романа Кристофера Приста существенно переработан братом режиссёра Джонатаном Ноланом. История не рассказывается последовательно, а подается в виде нескольких слоев «флешбэков» (ретроспекций) главных героев.
Фокусник Альфред Борден (Кристиан Бэйл) осужден за убийство Роберта Энджера (Хью Джекман), своего соперника. Оба работали ассистентами у "Иллюзиониста Милтона" (Рикки Джей) и инженера Джона Каттера (Майкл Кейн). Джулия (Пайпер Перабо), жена Энджера, утонула, исполняя опасный трюк с погружением в воду, и Энджер винит Бордена, который делает вид, что не помнит, правильным ли узлом он связал ее. Оба становятся ожесточенными конкурентами, срывая выступления друг друга. Борден становится "Профессором" с загадочным инженером Бернардом Фелоном, в то время как Энджер стал "Великим Дантоном" с милой ассистенткой Оливией Уэнском (Скарлетт Йоханссон) и помощником Каттером.
